INTRODUCING VINTAGE ARCHIVE

Inspired by the graphics found on vintage navy barracks bags, we created
our new Vintage Archive silhouettes for spring. These totes are vintage
in spirit, but we updated them with leather handles, interior pockets, and
durable cotton canvas. Read on to learn more about these bags!

LEARN MORE ABOUT THE INSPIRATION

Used to store and transport personal
clothing, these bags were the one item that
was allowed to be personalized by the sailor.

The sailor’s name and serial number were
stenciled on in white lettering, and then
the bags were painted or dyed as well as
stamped with ship information. Original
barracks bags are highly collectible today.

Prior to World War II, navy barracks bags were made of
a blue denim material. By 1942, the blue denim bag was
replaced by a new bag made with olive fabric.

INSPIRATION
TO REALITY

Taking true inspiration from these military bags,
we decided to add some graphics of our own to
the totes. We chose nautical colors and artwork
to maintain the naval theme—we like to think
these bags look like the ones the sailors might
have personalized for themselves.
