We’re positively thrilled about our Fossil x ME to WE collab, now in stores and online! This colorful, handmade collection is beautifully beaded, and every single purchase helps female artisans (also known as Mamas) in Kenya. What’s not to love?
We’re excited to see how tastemakers are adding the new beaded bag charms, watch straps and bracelets into their day-to-day getups. We reached out to Jeanne Chan, the San Francisco-based lifestyle blogger of Shop Sweet Things, crafter and mother of two to show us how she styles our new Fossil x ME to WE pieces, alongside our monogrammed Harper bag and Original Boyfriend blush watch.
Q: Describe your personal style in three words.
A: Polished, approachable, collected.
Q: Out of the beaded pieces from the Fossil x ME to WE collection, what’s your favorite one to wear?
A: My favorite is the handmade beaded bracelet. I think it’s pretty and delicate when it’s worn alone or it can add a sense of personal style when layered with a watch.
Q: How has being a mom influenced your work and the things you create?
A: I think being a mother empowers me and makes me realize that I can do things I didn’t know I could do. I want to inspire my daughters to create their own paths, so I have this desire to show them that I can do anything as long as I put my heart into it. And along the way, I also show them that I make mistakes and it’s OK to fail a few times.
Q: Who inspires you?
A: My kids! Their free spirits are a constant reminder to me that I should just go for what I want. I also get inspired easily by just about anyone who is passionate and ambitious about his or her work.
Q: Which piece(s) would you like to give or receive this Mother’s Day?
A: Definitely the monogram [Harper] handbag.
Q: Through our ME to WE collaboration, we’re giving back to the artisan Mamas behind the handmade pieces. How has your blog helped you give back to women?
A: My blog has always been an inspiration to women on how to achieve a better lifestyle within their means. I believe that good taste and style are not always tied to material things; instead, they’re about confidence and knowing your personal style.
Q: What are you most looking forward to this Mother’s Day?
A: My hand-drawn Mother’s Day card from my daughters and a slow morning with breakfast in bed from my husband.
