CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund

Last night, we were honored to be a part of CFDA and Vogue's Fashion Fund cocktail party hosted by Anna Wintour and Diane von Furstenberg. In the beautiful One World Trade Center gallery, we mingled with the finalists and previewed their outfits from our ‘Calling All Curious’ design challenge.
Designers included Scott Studenberg and John Targon from Baja East, Aurora James from Brother Vellies, Becca McCharen from Chromat, David Hart, Matt Baldwin, Raul Arevalo and Brad Schmidt from CADET, Chris Gelinas from CG, Rio Uribe from Gypsy Sport, Johnathan Simkhai and Thaddeus O'Neil.
This year, Fossil was truly immersed in this amazing emerging designer program. We worked with Vogue and the CFDA to create a special design challenge for each finalist. We challenged designers to use curiosity to curate a unique outfit inspired by a cultural event on the fall calendar. From Burning Man to the New York City Ballet, events provided a chance for designers to combine culture and design in fashion.

We dug deeper and spoke with the designers on what they find most curious and if they think curiosity fuels their designs.

“We are most curious about understanding and exploring culture, especially the Far East meets street style, but keeping it modern and infusing our DNA into the designs. We are always fueled by the idea of how our customer’s spend their days, time is so valuable to them and they want to feel comfortable and look good too.” -Scott Studenberg and John Taragon, Baja East

“Curiosity has consistently taken me through the roads less traveled. Curiosity has fueled my spirit and sense of adventure. Curiosity has been what ultimately led me here, which is a really beautiful place to be. I am exactly where I need to be!” -Aurora James, Brother Vellies

“I’m most curious about perception, transformation, the human body and the catalytic role of play in all this.  I think change, and the playful attitude that celebrates it, is the most beautiful thing in the world.“ -Thaddeus O'Neil
