NAME THE MUST-SEE PLACES FOR FOSSIL ADVENTURERS
Acropolis. It’s a VERY touristy place, but you can’t go to Greece and not see the Parthenon and other historic buildings that lie within it. I also loved the fish and meat markets in Athens, Little Venice in Mykonos, and the view from the lobby at Charisma Suites in Santorini.
BEST PLACES TO EAT:
Athens: O Kostas for delicious, late-night eats
Mykonos: Jimmy’s Gyros for fantastic, authentic gyros
Santorini: Sunset Ammoudi Tavern in Ammoudi Bay—it’s pricey, but worth it for the wine selection, the seafood pasta and the incredible view (you’re literally on the water with a front row view of the sunset).
WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE PLACE FOR HAPPY HOUR?
Athens: Tailor Made is a great little place for both coffee and drinks, and it’s centered in Agias Irinis, also known as the “hipster” area of Athens.
Mykonos: Ornos Beach behind the Mykonos Ammos Hotel is alive and thriving any day of the week. For after dinner drinks, Scarpa Bar is a great indoor/outdoor spot on the water bustling with Greece’s young crowd and lively music.
Santorini: Hop on a boat and watch the sunset while sipping wine. That gorgeous view coupled with Santorini’s signature vino makes it the happiest of hours.
WE LOVE THE WHITE AND BLUE LANDSCAPE IN YOUR PICS. WHAT WERE YOUR FAVORITE PLACES TO SHOOT?
Mykonos’s architecture is primarily white and blue, with small pops of red, green, and purple. The pedestrian streets are white, so the whole town is a bright and wonderfully lit, basically a photographer’s heaven.
I particularly loved the 300 treacherous steps down to Amoudi Bay (where you watch the infamous sunset) in Oia. Not many people have the patience to walk down, so we found ourselves secluded, taking in an entirely different view of Oia.
WHAT’S THE MOST UNEXPECTED THING YOU DISCOVERED IN GREECE (SOMETHING MANY PEOPLE DON’T KNOW ABOUT)?
Santorini isn’t all white and blue! There are SO many brilliant colors in the island. Tans, beiges, mint greens, lavenders; even the earth is red there. It was incredible to see it in person.
WHAT GO-TO FOSSIL ACCESSORIES DID YOU BRING ON YOUR TRIP?
The brown Jules fringe bag and the passport holder! The brown bag is a beautiful, neutral piece. The size is perfect, and it goes with literally everything in my wardrobe (I wore it almost every day on this trip). The passport holder is the perfect size to fit in both regular sized and smaller bags! Not only is the [tomato] color gorgeous, but I also never lost sight of it.
